K….so I’m a little late on the Happy Chinese New Year sentiments…as well as posting my Field Trip Friday. I had all noble intentions of staying in last night, eating some homemade icecream, and posting this ish. However, very last minute I went to hang out in the kitchen and make food at my favourite vegan bar, because yes Edmonton has one of those. It’s called Arcadia. We’ll talk about that on another episode of FIELD TRIP FRIDAY.
Anyways, this is the first Chinese New Year I have ever celebrated proper. I was lucky enough to be invited along to Jade’s family festivities, and had way too much fun! Her family made a reservation for two large tables at a local Edmonton joint called Tasty Noodle. The place was seriously bumpin’.
Now, I just want to point out that this menu was available to us on request. They did a great job for Jade and I. However, if you are planning on visiting Tasty Noodle, I might also call in a request to cater to a vegan diet in advance, or review the menu beforehand to plan your visit. As the only two vegans, we got to feast on spring rolls, hot and sour soup, garlicky greens, and a tofu and vegetable dish that made my heart sing. Here are some pictures of the things we ate:

After an ingredient run for Blue Rose orders, I pretty much stumbled home and crashed out hard. After celebrating my first CNY proper, I do believe that I will be celebrating again next year. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY HOLIDAYS THAT I HAVE NOT BEEN TAKING PART IN ALREADY? ESPECIALLY THE ONES THAT INVOLVE DELICIOUS FOOD. I really don’t have too much else to say except for I’m kinda sad that the food is gone. Did the rest of you do anything special for CNY?!!
